Schools participating in The Almondbury Schools’ Community Partnership have been working hard to put on a memorable Remembrance Day Programme, paying tribute to all who fought in the First World War.
Almondbury CE(VC) Infant & Nursery School, Greenside Infant & Nursery School, Lowerhouses CE(VC) Junior Infant & Early Years School, Almondbury Junior School, Almondbury High School & Language Collage, Dalton School Junior, Infant and Nursery School and Moldgreen Community Primary School have made a commitment to work together with a shared vision of providing an outstanding educational experience for all pupils aged 3-16 in the area.
On 11th November 2014, pupils came together to present an account of WW1 using drama, poetry, art and song.
The event was attended by families, friends and carers, and a great time was had by all.
“It was to see everybody coming together” – John Goodger, Parent of pupil from Almondbury Junior School
The pupils provided attendees with a stunning display of portraits of local fallen heroes from the WW1 era, and realistic trench models. An array of beautifully painted red poppies were on show for all to see, modeled and painted by the infant school pupils.
Kirklees’ Councillor Phil Scott, attended the event and described it as “Fantastic!”
