The Learning CIC are delighted to announce their collaboration with China.
Annually, The Learning CIC supports parents and children in the Kirklees Area by organising out-of-classroom extended learning workshops and summer schools. Alongside this, for 2014, they will be hosting between 15 and 30 Chinese children aged 12 to 16 in The Great British Theatre Summer School, where children will combine education, excursions and confidence building.
The Learning CIC are hoping that local families in the Kirklees and Calderdale area will be willing to give the opportunity for one or perhaps even two of the Chinese children to stay in their homes and experience true, British family life.
The Great British Theatre Summer School could also be enjoyed by local schools and colleges. The aim is to broaden pupil’s knowledge about Shakespeare and English language, including a final performance of Romeo and Juliet. The Summer School is running from 1st July to 15th July this year.
The Summer School pupils will be given the opportunity to visit many British attractions such as a trip to London, Stratford-Upon-Avon and Haworth – The home of the literary famous Bronte sisters.
They will also undertake sessions at the University of Huddersfield, to give both British and Chinese pupils the chance to view the main campus of The University of The Year 2014 – in the hope that local children will consider staying at home when eventually studying further education.
